Visitation will begin at 3 p.m., Friday at Warner Funeral Home of Spencer. The family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday.
Interment will take place at Garfield Cemetery of Webb.
Military services will be provided by the Iowa Army National Guard.
Ray passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Germany.
Ray Frederick Lohof, the son of Fred and Anna (Tielbur) Lohof, was born Aug. 24, 1924, near Cornell. His childhood years were spent on a farm near Webb, where he received his education in country schools and later graduated from Cornell High School. Following his schooling, he farmed for a short period of time.
On March of 1943, Ray entered the military and served with the Army for 22 years. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, while being stationed all over the world including: Austria, Italy, Korea and Germany. Following his retirement from the military, he remained in Germany, where he worked as a civilian for the military for 10 years. Ray later managed a depot for Oil Pipelines for 10 years until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ray is survived by his wife, Marianne of Germany; one son, Erik Lohof of Germany; three daughters: Elisabeth Roedern and her husband, Erich, Christina Sachon, and Sieglinde Lohof -- all of Germany; two grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth Brugger of California and Ferne Toft and her husband, Ralph of Royal.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
