Nature photography instruction

Thursday, June 5, 2008
The Northwest Iowa Center for Photography, in conjunction with CR Gallery and Lost Island Lake Prairie Wetlands Nature Center, would like to invite interested photographers to sign up for a day of nature photography instruction to be given by Stan Buman, a nature photographer from Carroll. Buman has traveled far and wide in his pursuit of bird photography as well as other natural settings. He has been to both the Lost Island Nature Center and CR Gallery in 2007 to give talks and instruction on wildlife photography and equipment needs. We are proud to have him back again for a field workshop and instruction on photographic techniques.

The workshop is set for June 28 at the Lost Island Lake Prairie Wetlands Nature Center and will have a "shotgun" start, with early risers meeting at 5:30 a.m. for sunrise field work and a later start at 8 a.m. for all others. The workshop will last until 2 p.m. and will involve field work in the morning until 10:14 a.m., a lunch break (provide your own) and then from 11:15 a.m. - 2 p.m. a discussion and critique session, including some equipment tips.

There is a $40 fee for the workshop, which will go toward the cost of putting on the event, and the space is limited in concern for our footprint on the habitat. For more information or registration please contact Christine Richards or Dan Ruf at CR Gallery, (712) 338-4155 or e-mail Ruf at druf@mchsi.com. The Lost Island Lake Nature Center contact is Miriam Patton at paccb@ruthventel.com.
