Rock the Roof concert season to begin June 12 in Arnolds Park

A salute to volunteers opens the 2008 Rock the Roof concert season in Arnolds Park on Thursday, June 12.

For 10 consecutive Thursday nights, free concerts will be presented in the Roof Garden from 6-8:30 p.m. This family entertainment highlight of the summer is a gift from the Iowa RockNRoll Music Museum and its supporters to the public.

The IRRMA Museum relies heavily on volunteers. The first concert will honor those volunteers. Opening the season will be two crowd favorites: Terry Klein and the band called Daybreak. Guest emcee is Lakes Television's Jeff Thee.

The remainder of the summer schedule includes: June 19, Rock Ala Carte and Galaxy with KKOJ's Dave Maschoff; June 26, Jerry Martin and the Sounds, Clark Marshall & Friends with KUOO's Chad Taylor; July 3, The Expressions, BB and the Bullfrogs with special appearance by James Freeman of the Five Satins with Rhonda Wedeking of KICD; July 10, Ralph Lundquist, Randy Dillingham and The Senn Menn with guest emcee, Tim Horsman; July 17, Dave Rowley and Sideline with the Pearson Lakes Art Center's Tom Tourville; July 24, Rhythm Aces and Starfire with guest emcee, Tyler Pedersen of The Bullfrogs; July 31, Stone Soul Picnic and the Fabulous Traidmarx on Donald Bryan Memorial Night with KLLT's Kevin Tlam; Aug. 7, Dennis Wienke and The Murphy Brothers with Bob Godfredsen from the Sibley Gazette; and Aug. 14, Bob Pettitt and The Castels.

Supporters of the Rock the Roof Concert series include: IGL Audio, Northwest Bank, Gene Krueger Construction, Liberty Bank, ReMax of Spirit Lake and the Okobojis, Okoboji GM Toyota, Farmers Savings Bank, and Lakes News Shopper.

The summer season has arrived and Rock the Roof is ready for hundreds of music lovers to gather and have a great time. Doors to the Roof Garden will open each Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. Concerts will start promptly at 6 p.m.
