Gabrielle Louise will be joined by band mates Ryan Drickey on fiddle and vocal harmonies and Joe Skala on upright bass. The trio has been making their mark on the acoustic scene with a live show that yields smart topical songs, rich soaring vocals, and show-stopping, genre-hopping sets.
The Gabrielle Louise Trio has toured from Boston to San Francisco, spreading their home-grown mix of roots, jazz, and alt country one town at a time. The band cites influences ranging from Bob Dylan and The Band to Paul Simon, Gillian Welch, and Patty Griffin.
Front woman Gabrielle Louise is a two-time John Lennon Songwriting Contest Finalist and is known for her poignant lyrics and captivating vocal range. One moment folkie and ethereal, the next a smoky jazz chanteuse, Louise has been electrifying audiences with her adventurism and versatility, both as a solo artist and as part of the trio. "Seeing her perform has been like watching the unfolding of an up and coming star," according to Denver's Acoustic Music Revival.
This summer tour celebrates the release of Louise's new album, "Cigarettes for Sentiments," which follows on the heels of her sophomore 2007 EP "Around in Circles," and 2006's full-length "Journey." Her third record continues Louise's knack for topical writing, often with a dry witty edge and well-woven storytelling. Louise's rounded interests in the outdoors, travel, and a newfound love for Argentine tango dancing have all contributed towards songs that are steeped in life.
Gabrielle Louise is a performer who, like many other socially-conscious musicians, has made a commitment towards peace and the environment through music. Her new single, "Save the Arkansas," seeks to bring awareness to a dire environmental situation that is threatening the health and safety of the Arkansas River Watershed. She was also recently asked by the Willie Nelson Peace Institute to cover Nelson's "Peaceful Solution."
As its name implies, the Spencer House Concert Series presents concerts in the intimate setting of a private living room. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There are no tickets to buy, but a donation of $12--$15 per person is suggested, with all proceeds going to the artists. Some snacks and beverages are provided, but guests are encouraged to bring a beverage of their choice and a snack to share.
