Former Iowa Hawkeye defensive standout Mike Klinkenborg, who played his high school ball at Central Lyon in Rock Rapids, made a stop in Spencer Tuesday at U.S. Bank downtown to meet and greet his fans. Klinkenborg signed autographs on a variety of Hawkeye gear, including a hat for Kaleb Stover (above) who wore Klinkenborg's number as a player in Spencer's youth football league. Klinkenborg said he would have liked to have pursued a career beyond the college level in football, but a series of concussions gave the Hawkeye star reason to seek a future elsewhere. He is currently employed with Pella Windows at the corporate headquarters in Pella.
