Fern Lavin - Obituary
Fern Lavin, 69, of Spencer, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Avera Heart Hospital of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lavin, 69, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Warner Chapel of Spencer. Rev. Robert Van Wyk will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin an hour prior to the services at Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Casket bearers are Tom Sierck, David Sierck, Butch Sierck, Marlin Mjelstad, Jim Larsen and Ryan Warren. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Fern Louise (Naas) Lavin, the daughter of Elliott Oliver and Ruth Louise (Brown) Naas, was born March 4, 1939, in Williston, N.D. Her childhood years were spent in Williston, where she received her early education and graduated from Williston High School.

Fern married Robert Baker in Williston, in 1957. Following their marriage, they moved to California, until returning back to Williston within a year. To this union, one daughter , Debbie, was born. After giving birth to their daughter, Fern began working at Montgomery Wards.

Fern married Larry Lavin in Sidney, Mont., in 1964 and resided in Spencer. To this union, one son, Craig was born. She then began employment at Rexall Drug Store and Smith Jewelry. Her later years were spent at Dickinson Care Facility in Spirit Lake and Northshire Residence in Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, her father and an infant son.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Ruth Louise Naas of Bismarck, N.D.; one daughter, Debbie Sierck and her husband, Tom of Spencer; two grandchildren: David Sierck of Spencer and Jamilee Sierck of West Des Moines; one sister, Judy Mjelstad and her husband, Marlin of Bismarck, N.D.; and many other relatives and friends.
