Funeral services for Leah F. Nielsen, 98, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Warner Chapel of Spencer. Rev. Roger Maize will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Garfield Cemetery of Webb.

Leah passed away on May 30, 2008, at the Spencer Hospital.

Leah F. Nielsen, the daughter of Knute and Ruby (Warriner) Krohn, was born March 31, 1910, in Clay County. Leah received her early education at the Garfield School in Webb.

Leah married Alfred Nielsen on Oct. 31, 1925, in Webb. Following their marriage they lived in Webb, they then moved to Curlew in 1937 and Sioux Rapids in 1947 until 1980 when she moved to Storm Lake. In 2003, Leah moved to Northshire Residence in Spencer. Leah worked as a nurse's aide at the Sioux Rapids Care Center in Sioux Rapids for 10 years and she also babysat for many children. She was a member of the Sioux Rapids Methodist Church and the Sioux Rapids Women's Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred on Jan 10, 1955; one son; one daughter; her sister; and brother.

Leah is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Jones and her husband, Wendell of Linn Grove; her son, Raymond Nielsen and his wife, Marilyn of Algona; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Maxine Nielsen of Noblesville, Ind.; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Krohn of Storm Lake.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
