Graveside services for M. Duane Current, 83, of Webb, will take place at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Garfield Cemetery in Webb. Rev. Julie McCullough will officiate the service.

There will be no visitation.

Interment will take place at Garfield Cemetery of Webb.

Duane passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Spencer Hospital.

M. Duane Current, the son of Leigh Martin and Emma Lillian (Schultz) Current, was born on July 16, 1924, in Rural Webb. He received his early education there graduating from High School.

Duane entered into the military on Dec. 1, 1943, serving in the United States Navy during WWII. While in the Navy he obtained the rank of Seaman 3rd Class before his honorable discharge on June 28, 1944. Following his military service, he worked as a postmaster in Evanston, Ill. Duane then worked as an electronics engineer for A.C. Nielsen for 52 years. He lived in the communities of Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago and Clearwater, Fla., before retiring to Webb in 2003. Duane was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Economic Organization.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merle; and two sisters: Vera Thummel and Cleo Reimann.

Duane is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
