(Photo submitted) The Beach Boys will close out the 2008 Clay County Fair with a 6 p.m. concert Sunday, Sept. 14. The band has 15 top 10 hits and are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Rock and Roll superstars, The Beach Boys, will provide an exciting conclusion to the 2008 Clay County Fair with an appearance on the Grandstand stage at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14.

Formed in 1961, The Beach Boys have served as one of America's most accomplished groups. Their songs of California girls, surfing and cars have reached across all generations and now will entertain fans at the 2008 Clay County Fair.

Several of the group's iconic hits like "Surfin' USA," "I Get Around" and "Good Vibrations," have helped generate worldwide recognition. Along with a 1988 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Beach Boys have also received numerous Grammy nominations and have been presented the Award of Merit from the American Music Awards. Additionally, Billboard Magazine recognizes The Beach Boys as the number one selling American band for both singles and album sales.

The group's popularity streamed onto the big screen in the late 80s with the rhythmic sounds of their hit song "Kokomo," appearing on the soundtrack to the movie "Cocktail".

Success brought The Beach Boys four No. 1 singles and 15 top 10 hits, earning them high honor in 2001 with the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 2003, the group accomplished a three-time platinum certification for their album "Endless Summer", two-time platinum certification for "Made in the U.S.A.," and platinum certification for "Still Crusin'".

As part of their nation-wide summer tour, The Beach Boys members will perform at the fair on Sunday night with a fireworks show scheduled to follow. Tickets for the 6 p.m. Sept. 14 show will be $30 stage front standing, $25 grandstand reserved seating and $20 annex reserved seating.

DATES TO KNOW:

* The 2008 Clay County Fair will run Saturday, September 6 through Sunday, Sept. 14.

* Corbin Bleu and Drew Seeley have been announced to perform on Saturday Sept. 13. Other performers will be announced in the weeks to come.

* The first day for postmarks on mail orders for grandstand event tickets will be June 23.

* Orders will be taken by phone beginning July 14.

* July 21 is the first day the box office will be open on the fairgrounds.
