Robyn Werk, a West Central Minnesota native and recent South Dakota State University graduate, will take on the position of assistant to the secretary manager of the Clay County Fair. Werk graduated with a degree in agriculture journalism and a minor in animal science.
Werk was involved in many student-run agricultural organizations on campus, including the Block and Bridle Show.
She recently interned at Certified Angus Beef where she was able to write for their national publication, The Angus Journal.
Werk will be in charge of writing press releases as well as lining up advertisers and promoters for the fair. When she heard of the fair opening, she felt it was perfect for her and would give her a chance to use the skills she learned in college.
"When the application came in, just like Robyn said, it was perfect for her, it was perfect for us too." said Clay County Fair Manager Phil Hurst. "We were looking for someone with an expertise in writing and we found her."
This year will mark Werk's first Clay County Fair experience. She said that she is "excited to become a part of the team and work toward the progression of the fair."
