Funeral services for Dora Pedersen, 74, of Royal, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Thursday, May 22, 2008, at United Methodist Church of Royal. Rev. Roger Maize will officiate the service.
Interment will take place at Willow Creek Cemetery of Royal.
Dora passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Spencer Hospital.
Dora Mae Pedersen, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Nielsen) Asmussen, was born on Aug. 11, 1933, in Hartley. Dora was raised by George and Minnie Dumkrieger in Royal, where she received her education, graduating from Royal High School.
Dora married Ivan Harold Pedersen on Sept. 11, 1950, in Sioux City. Following their marriage, Ivan entered the military, serving in the U.S. Army. In 1953, after Ivan's return, the couple owned and operated L.P. Gas and then ran the Champlin Gas Station for 18 years. She was very involved in the church and the UMW.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Dora is survived by her two sons: Lonnie Pedersen and wife, Debbie of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Larry Pedersen and wife, Cecil of Royal; two daughters: Luanne Saboe and husband, David of Royal, and Lori Alexander and husband, Rev. Robert Clayton, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Florence Asmussen of Royal; and her extended family, JoAnn Hamm of Sun City, Ariz., Danny Roberts of San Diego, Calif., and Diane Krueger and her husband, Gary of Arnolds Park.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
