Dolores Montgomery, 92, of Wahpeton, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Spencer Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at the Schuchert Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Burial will be at the Cedar Township Cemetery near Larrabee.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1915, in Olwien, to Omer and Anne Niblick.
Dolores graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee in 1933. She then went on to business school in Chicago, and was employed as a secretary at Butler & Co., in Chicago. Dolores was united in marriage to Jim Montgomery on Dec. 28, 1939, in Cherokee. They lived on a farm near Larrabee, until Jim retired in 1978.
Dolores was active in Garden Clubs, Questers, PEO, and was a certified flower judge, judging many flower shows through out the state. After her children were grown, Dolores owned and operated Designs Unlimited for two years. The shop sold dried floral arrangements, needle point supplies and needle point creations. She also worked at Hope's Fashion Farm in Cherokee. Dolores was a member of PEO, Chapter MO and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Jim Montgomery of Wahpeton; a daughter, Ann Barry, and her husband, Rick, of Wahpeton; three sons: Jack Montgomery and his wife, Mary Ann, of Larrabee, Dick Montgomery and his wife, Mary Jean, of Spencer, and Tim Montgomery and his wife, Kim, of Edina, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
