The Spencer Area Arts Council announced the selection of Martin Arthur as the executive director of Arts on Grand in Spencer. Martin has had a long association with Arts on Grand, serving on the board of directors since 2003. He has also been associated with many arts-related organizations. He is currently a board member of SPACE, ArtsLIVE, and Friends of the Auditorium.

He has been singly responsible for the rejuvenation of the Spencer Area Concert Association. And he has been instrumental in bringing performers from across the U.S. to Spencer for his house concert series.

Martin is a graduate of the University of Iowa, with a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Spanish. Since his graduation he has been a freelance writer and editor, as well as an adjunct professor at Northwest Iowa Community College.

According to Mary Rahn, president of the Arts Council board, "Martin is the perfect fit for our organization. With his background in the arts and community involvement, he will be able to address the needs of a community art center and lead Arts on Grand into its 20th year and beyond."
