Burglary reported on West Fifth Street

Spencer Police are still determining the extent of missing property from a burglary in the 200 block of West Fifth Street.

The incident occurred between May 9 and May 11. No forced entry was reported, but once inside a person or group caused damage to several doors in the building.

A fire extinguisher has been reported missing and other items may be identified as the investigation continues. Police received the report at 8:08 p.m. Sunday.


ARRESTS

* Donald Essick, 40, Gillett Grove, was charged with domestic assault at 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Second Street in Gillett Grove. Deputies were dispatched to the location for the report of a domestic assault that had occurred. Deputies determined that Donald Essick and his girlfriend had been in a verbal argument. The argument had escalated and then become physical. Essick was taken into custody without incident and charged with simple assault domestic abuse. He was held without bond in the Clay County Jail.

* A 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Spencer were charged with disorderly conduct at 7:12 p.m. Sunday near the East Leach Park skate park. They were processed and released to parents.

* Kevin Anderson, 18, Spencer, was charged with assault at 8:28 p.m. Saturday. The arrest stemmed from an incident, which occurred on May 6 in the 500 block of 11th Street Southwest. He was processed and turned over to the Clay County Jailer.

* Brandon Ross, 23, Estherville, was charged with operating while intoxicated at 2:26 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block 11th St Southeast. He was processed and placed in the Clay County Jail.

* David Hobard, 50, Spencer, was charged with operating while intoxicated at 11:01 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of South Grand Avenue. He was processed and placed in the Clay County Jail.

* Steven Ray Clayton, 50, Spencer, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue on a warrant from Sac County for driving while license suspended. Clayton posted bond and was released.


ACCIDENTS

* Kenneth James Dahlhauser, 55, Whittemore, was making a right-hand turn from a a parking lot near J.C. Penney and heading into the traveled portion of the parking lot to head east bound out of the mall parking lot. Dean Wilbur Hess, 86, Okoboji, also was traveling east when the cars collided. Dahlhauser's 2007 SUV sustained $300 damage. The 1994 Cadillac sustained $1,000 damage. The mishap occurred at 4:56 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
