Madella Smith

Madella J. Smith, a senior at Spencer High School, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Madella was one of 60 Iowa high school students selected to receive the scholarship. At present, Madella plans to pursue English Education and Law in college.

Around 600 students graduated from North Iowa Area Community College during the commencement ceremony on Friday, May 4. Approximately 714 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded. Several honors and awards were also presented. Among those graduating, Stefanie Lynn Madsen of Rembrandt and Tad DuWayne Andreasen of Spencer.

North Iowa Area Community College graduates were recognized during commencement on Friday, May 2. Special honors and awards include: Stefanie L. Madsen of Rembrandt, Bonnie Baia Memorial Scholarship.

Robert Tielbur, son of Brett and Julie Mears of Spencer, has been on the Dean's List for two years with a 4.0 GPA at Iowa Central Community College and is among the school's Honor Society inductees. He is graduating this month and will be going to work at Eaton Corp.

Joseph Kuehler, of Spencer, recently finished first place in Technical Drafting; and Jeremy Menting of Everly, placed second in Welding - both representing Northwest Iowa Community College at the 2008 Iowa State Skills USA Championships held in Des Moines recently.
