Volunteer school board members serve thousands of hours each year working to ensure every Iowa student receives a solid education. School Board Recognition Week, May 11-27, is an opportunity to say thanks to the more than 2,000 men and women who govern Iowa's public education system. 2007-08 Spencer board members include, seated from left, Dean Mechler, David Schlichtemeier, Leslie Zobrist, and standing: Edward Ver Steeg and Rev.
