Doggie kisses. Can't beat them. At least that's what Shirley Tutt, a resident at Northshire, thought after getting a big, wet doggie kiss from Pepper - one of the many animals at the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa in Milford. The pets and their handlers paid a visit to both Northshire and St. Luke Nursing Home in Spencer Monday afternoon, for a little playtime, as part of the agency'a "Paws with a Cause" program. There was plenty of love to go around for both sides as both the residents and pets appreciated the special attention and companionship each received. The Humane Society is always looking for donors to assist with maintenance and upkeep expenses, as well as those looking to open their home to a new family pet. The Milford shelter, which is located at 607 28th St., can be reached at (712) 338-2738. Those wishing to e-mail the local operation may do so at hsnwia@longlines.com; and anyone wishing to view the website may do so at: humanesocietyofnwia.com.
