Spencer High School will be hosting a Master's Mile at the Spencer Relays tonight. The Master's Mile will take place at approximately 5:45 p.m., tonight following the 4x800 meter relay. It is open to all ages 18 and older, male and female. All competitors should report to the finish line by 5:30 p.m.
Simply Sinatra dinner ticket deadline
The deadline for purchasing tickets for the May 9, "Simply Sinatra" concert at the Clay County Regional Events Center is today. Tickets for the dinner are $20.

National Day of Prayer gathering today
Come and join us at 6:45 a.m. this morning for the National Day of Prayer gathering to be held in the Spencer Senior Center, Gateway North Mall. We will begin with a light breakfast for a free-will donation. Featured speaker will be Rev. Russell Muilenburg, Hope Reformed Church, Spencer. Muilenburg's topic is "The Micah Mandate" from Micah 6:8. This year's theme, "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield" is based on Psalm 28:7. The Spencer Daybreakers Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the National Day of Prayer morning gathering.

Registration for the Midwest Youth Football League fall session, for Spencer students entering the third through sixth grades will take place from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, May 3 in the Sacred Heart Catholic School gym. Registration forms will be available on site and participants will be fitted for helmets and shoulder pads at that time.
Catholic Daughters garage sale
The Catholic Daughters of Sacred Heart Parish in Spencer will participate in the Spencer Community Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. A wide variety of items will be for sale for a free will offering with proceeds going toward supporting religious education programs, though some larger items will be priced at bargain prices. These include a 13" color TV, black & white TV, hospital bed with electric and manual controls, small desk with a fold-down top, Nordic Trak, wicker chair with cushion, dresser with mirror, recliner and a rocker recliner, 5 combination storm windows, an entertainment center, in addition to many other items including clothing, and the organization's 2003 cookbooks. The sale will be held at Sacred Heart's Parish Hall, located at the back of the church at 1111 Fourth Ave. W. beginning Friday, May 2 from 12-7 p.m. and continuing Saturday from 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Glow ball golf tournament postponed
The two-person alternate shot glow ball golf tournament originally scheduled for Friday, May 2 at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course has been rescheduled to Friday, May 16 due to projected weather conditions. Proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life.

Jaycees plan membership drive
The Spencer Jaycees service organization is holding a Jaycees Membership Appreciation Night at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at the group's food stand on the Clay County Fairgrounds. Anyone between the ages of 21 and 40 is invited to join this devoted and energetic group of men and women in Spencer. Learn how to enhance managerial skills, networking abilities and community service by joining the Spencer Junior Chamber (Jaycees). Members get involved with the: Haunted House, Fair Stand, Tree of Joy, Easter egg hunt, Run/Punt/Pass, preschool scholarships and much more. Food and entertainment will be provided.
