Anne Edith Magness, 77, of Clemmons, N.C. passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008.

A memorial service will be held at Clemmons United Methodist Church at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels (2895 Shorefair Drive, 27105), Hospice and Palliative Care of W-S (101 Hospice Lane, 27103), American Cancer Society (4 Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, 27407) or a charity of choice.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she dedicated her life to serving others. She was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She served on the Morris School District Board of Education and was an Elder of Morris Plains Presbyterian Church. She was a NJ American Cancer Society volunteer of the year. Locally, she had volunteered for Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston-Salem, Centenary United Methodist Church Sunrise Ministry and WFUBMC Cancer Support Services.

She was proceeded in death by her mother, Eugena Mc Neill Sims.

Anne is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Bill (William C) Magness; sons: Steven, Jay, and David Scott and wife, Linda; daughters: Lynn Magness Basler and Julie Lorraine Magness; eight grandchildren; and two brothers: Floyd Eugene Collins and John Anderson and wife, Carol.
