Neal Thornberry will be heading up an Entrepreneurial Leadership seminar June 5 at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer. The seminar is sponsored by the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, in partnership with the Professional Developers of Iowa Spring Conference being held in Okoboji June 4-6.
"This seminar is another way we are focusing on entrepreneurship in the Corridor region," President of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation Kathy Evert said. "Entrepreneurial thinking and training is important to business and industry success, including non-profit organizations. We encourage organizations to send a number of managers and employees to this seminar."
Thornberry, author of the book "Lead Like an Entrepreneur: Keeping the Entrepreneurial Spirit Alive within the Corporation," will speak about ways organizations can develop and sustain innovation as an enabler of performance.
"Neal's book is a good read and presents information based upon direct experience with a number of companies around the country," Evert said.
Erik Pages, founder and owner of EntreWroks Consulting in Alexandria, Va., will also speak at the seminar. Pages will present tips and guidance on how organizations can turn their community into an innovation and entrepreneurship hotspot.
"Erik has done a lot of work with the Kauffman Foundation and the former National Commission on Entrepreneurship," Evert said. "I heard him speak in Kansas City about five years ago and am glad he has agreed to share his expertise with us and with developers across Iowa."
The seminar will be held at the Clay County Regional Events Center, 1-5:30 p.m., June 5. Seating is limited to 125 people and open to the general public. A registration fee of $100 per person includes refreshments and handouts. Investors and members of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation will receive a discounted registration fee.
