May 1 marks the start of the seventh annual Plants to Cherish Sale, which benefits Cherish House, a maternity home for teen mothers located in the Okoboji area. There are more new plants than ever before, including perennials, hostas, and a wide variety of annuals and vegetable plants. Bird feeders and other gardening accents are also available. People are welcome to stroll through several acres of plants and landscaping, both shaded and sunlit, with highlights such as a pond and waterfall, or take a rest in one of the seating areas surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature and birds. All of this is available at the home of Don and Verona Chaffin, located two miles south and two miles west of Milford at 2005 240th St. Sale hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through June 2. For more information about Cherish House, the plant sale, or other projects of Shepherd's Fold and Cherish Center, call (712) 338-3333.
