Car crash damages Rossie business

Tuesday, April 29, 2008
A 28-year-old Rossie man was treated for minor injuries after a weekend car chase in western Clay County.

Members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office tried to pull Jeremy Starkson over at 2:35 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of 170th Avenue, which is about three miles west of Rossie.

Starkson accelerated, according to a sheriff's report, and the high-speed pursuit continued into the town of Rossie. That's where the driver then lost control of his 1976 Chevy Truck and struck the Rossie Feed and Grain building.

He was transported to Spencer Hospital for minor injuries. His truck is considered a total loss. The building was not seriously damaged.

After treatment, deputies took Starkson into custody and charged him with felony eluding, first-offense operating while intoxicated, speeding and for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.

He was placed in the Clay County Jail on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear before a magistrate. Webb Fire and Rescue along with Royal Fire and Rescue assisted at the crash scene.
