Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.
Rich passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Rick Lynn Kaiser, son of Merlin and Esther (Becker) Kaiser, was born on April 6, 1957, at Fort Dodge. Rick grew up in Palmer, and attended school there, graduating from Palmer High School in 1975. Following his education, Rick was employed at the Palmer Mutual Telephone Company for a year. He moved to Spencer, and was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, U.S. West, and Qwest. He married Lorraine Janssen at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sibley, on June 16, 1984. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Spencer and Rick continued to work for the phone company. He was currently working for Quest as a network technician. Rick had worked for 32 years for the phone company. Rick was recognized by Qwest Foundation Employer Education Volunterism for his many hours to the Northwest Iowa Youth Soccer Alliance and the Spencer High School Soccer program. Rick's commitment and time resulted in a portable soccer goal, which is referred to as the "Kaiser Goal" as well as other equipment.
Rick attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer and was active in the church. Rick was involved with the girls soccer program and was the Junior Varsity coach for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a great niece.
Rick is survived by his wife Lorraine Kaiser of Spencer; a daughter, Megan Kaiser, a student at the University of Iowa in Iowa City; a son, Nate Kaiser, a student at Iowa State University at Ames; three brothers: Dennis Kaiser and his wife, Wanda of Gravois Mills, Mo., Randy Kaiser and his wife, Colleen of Manson, and Robert Kaiser and his wife, Valari of Palmer; and two sisters: Judy Franzmeier and her husband, Merle of Palmer, and Virginia Thatcher and her husband, Tom of Muscatine.
