Services for Robert Clark, 86, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Wallingford and Spencer, were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Emmetsburg on Monday, April 21, 2008. Rev. Dennis Augland officiated the service.

Military services were conducted by American Legion - Glen Pederson Post No. 1, and VFW Clay County Post No. 3159.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Robert passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Banner Hospice in Mesa.

Robert George Clark, the son of George and Amanda (Fries) Clark, was born on June 24, 1921, in Summit Township. Bob grew up in the Everly community and graduated from Spencer High School. He served in the Army of the United States as a military police officer in Africa and Italy during the second World War. Bob was united in marriage to Ina Helmick on Aug. 20, 1944. Ina passed away on April 23, 1961. Bob then was united in marriage to Beverly Brinkley on April 2, 1967. He farmed and lived in the Spencer area. Bob retired from farming at the age of 68 and moved to High Lake.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren: Clay Zehnder and Matthew Brinkley.

Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly of Mesa, Ariz.; his children: Susan Zehnder of Sheldon, Timothy Brinkley and wife, Susie Brinkley of Spencer, Karen Cretsinger and husband, Craig of Spencer, Constance Brinkley of Seattle, Wash., Pam Hunt and husband, Henry of Okemos, Mich., and Tom Brinkey and wife, Mary of Esko, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Millie Stengel of Mauston, Wis.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
