Meet the Quilters at Parker

Parker Museum will be open until 7 p.m., tonight. It will be hosting a "Meet the Quilters" event at 6 p.m. Neila Rohan from Quilts on Grand will present a short program at 6:15 p.m. The event is being held to recognize the quilters who created the doll quilts currently on exhibit at Parker Museum. Friday, March 28 will be the last day for the "American Doll Quilts." Parker Museum is located at 300 E. Third St. in Spencer.

GriefShare meeting tonight

Warner Funeral Home is sponsoring GriefShare, a special weekly grief recovery support group for people grieving the death of someone close. The group will begin meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Spencer Area Activity Center (senior center), 1900 N. Grand Ave., Spencer. There will be six sessions. Each GriefShare DVD features some of the nation's foremost experts on grief recovery topics. It is combined with a discussion time to allow group participants to talk about the content of the seminar and about how they are dealing with the death of their loved one.

Ward 1 Meeting

Ward 1 Councilman George Kruger, will host a Ward 1 Meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Spencer Public Library. City Manager Bob Fagen will be the guest.

Knight's omelet breakfast

An Omelet Breakfast, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, March 30 at Sacred Heart School's gymnasium. Proceeds will help Sacred Heart with kitchen repairs. The public is welcome to the all you can eat event.

Shaky Tree upcoming events

Come out to a Shaky Tree Community Open-Mic night to be held beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, March 28. Those interested in participating should show up by 7:30 p.m. and sign up for a 10 minute slot, with performers to start at 8 p.m.

Rides to Iowa Horn Quartet Concert

The Spencer Area Concert Association is presenting the Iowa Horn Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Grace United Methodist Church. As with other concerts this year, free transportation is available for Spencer members who need it thanks to the Regional Transit Authority (Rides) and Spencer Municipal Utilities.

Final Eggs & Issues

The final session of Eggs and Issues will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29 in council chambers at Spencer City Hall. Area legislators have been invited to participate. These sessions are held as a question-answer format.

Birthright Banquet

Birthright of Spencer, a crisis pregnancy center, will host its annual benefit dinner and meeting on Saturday, March 29 at Hope Reformed Church in the Harbor of Hope Room in Spencer. The evening includes a non-alcoholic social hour at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. This year's special guest speakers include Todd Dykstra of Hartley and his birth mother, Mary Lee Vantubergen of Grand Rapids, Mich.

'Free Poolside Fishing' seminar

The Upper Great Plains Chapter of Muskies Inc. will present "Free Poolside Fishing: Applying Minnesota Trophy Muskie Tactics to Iowa Lakes." The event will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at Bedell Family YMCA in Spirit Lake.

VFW pancake breakfast

Clay County VFW Post No. 3159 will host a pancake breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage or ham with juice and coffee from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, March 30. A free-will donation will be welcomed. The public is welcome.

Webb pancake breakfast

The Webb Fire & Rescue will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 at the Webb Fire Station. Serving pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. A free-will donation will be accepted. Proceeds will go to equipment and training.

Benefit for Ken Stoeber

A benefit breakfast for Ken Stoeber will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at South Clay School. The money raised from the pancakes, french toast, eggs and sausage meal will go to defer medical costs.

Alzheimer's Support Group to meet

The Alzheimer's Support Group meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 31 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Spencer.
