Funeral services for Mr. Lonny McKewon, 60, of Spencer, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2008, at First English Lutheran Church of Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl officiated the service.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Military services were conducted by Glen Pedersen Post No. 1 - American Legion of Spencer following the graveside services.

Lonny passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Spencer Hospital.

Lonny Wayne McKewon, the son of Richard Greer and Marjorie Alice (Boyd) McKewon, was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Sioux City. His childhood years were spent in McCook Lake, S.D., where he attended McCook Lake Elementary and Jr. High and later graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, SD, in 1965. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1968.

Lonny married Carol Jean Bailey on April 18, 1969, in Sioux City. Following their marriage, he worked for Prince Manufacturing, Dennis Willis Construction, Industrial Maintenance, Poulsen Construction and Dakota Mechanical until his health forced his retirement in 2004. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.

Lonny is survived by his wife, Carol of Spencer; two daughters: Stephanie McKewon and Jennifer Kuehler -- both of Spencer; three grandchildren; one brother, Rick McKewon and his wife, Sylvia of Pleasanton, Calif.; and one sister, Carole Bell and her husband, Ralph of Fremont, Calif.

A memorial fund has been established for the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
