Funeral services for Mrs. Darlene Morony, 81, of Spencer, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spencer. Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Wednesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

A Catholic vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Warner Funeral Home.

Darlene passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Community Memorial Health Center of Hartley.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Darlene Cecilia Morony, the daughter of S.M. and Clothilda (Nothem) Fideler, was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Remsen. Her childhood years were spent in Remsen where she received her education, graduating from Remsen St. Mary's High School in 1944. Following high school, she attended Sioux City Mercy Nursing School and later went to school to become an anesthetist. After her schooling, Darlene worked as an anesthetist at N. Memorial Emergency Room in Minnesota.

Darlene married James Morony on April 25, 1964, in Remsen. Following their marriage, she became a homemaker and raised her family. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer where she was president of the Altar Society. She was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Jim of Spencer; two sons: Paul Morony and his wife, Amanda, and Michael Morony and his wife, Lesley; four grandchildren; two brothers: Dr. S. Michael Fideler and his wife, Ethie, and Dr. Ty Fideler and his wife, Joan -- all of Spencer; and one sister, Edna Wiedenfeildt of Fresno, Calif.

Memorials will be given to alzheimer's research.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
