Shandra and Nicholas Van Berkum

Shandra Rae Donaldson and Nicholas Ray Van Berkum were married on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with Pastor Perry De Groot officiating.

Parents of the couple are Alan and Linda Donaldson or Orange City and Terry and Kathy Van Berkum of Rock Rapids. Grandparents of the bride are Mildred Schoep of Orange City and Robert and Beverly Stewart of Spencer. Grandparents of the groom are Bill and Ginny Verdoorn of Lake Park.

Maids of honor were Carissa and Jantina Donaldson, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Friedrichsen, Becky Van Leeuwen, Jessica Gaylord, all friends of the bride, and Abbey De Groot, sister of the groom. The personal attendant was Kim Cam, friend of the bride. The flower girl was Paige Roos, second cousin of the bride.

Best man was Sean Van Berkum, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Eric Cleveringa, Josh Kruse, Todd Young, Nicholas Netley, and Tim Lemonds, all friends of the groom.

Ushers were Jack and Scott Sachse, cousins of the groom, Derek De Groot, brother-in-law of the groom, and Geoff Kruse, friend of the groom.

Ring bearers were Dylann and Kayden VanBerkum, nephews of the groom.

A dinner reception and dance were held at the Alton Golf and Country Club following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple resides in Ames, Iowa where both work for Iowa State University. Nick works as a Communications Specialist and Web Designer for the Sociology Department. Shandra works as an Events Coordinator for the University Book Store.
