Funeral services for Chris McLellan, 89, of Spencer, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Spencer. Rev. Bart DeBoer will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Elm Creek Cemetery of Trimont, Minn.

Chris passed away at home Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at home.

Chrystobel 'Chris' McLellan, the daughter of George and Martha (Lindeman) Marsh, was born in Cass County, on Aug. 17, 1918. At the age of six her family moved to Martin County, Minn., where she attended rural schools near Welcome and Ormsby, Minn., graduating from Trimont High School in 1936.

Chris married Thomas McLellan on March 24, 1938, at Estherville. The family lived in the Trimont area until 1953 when they moved to Spencer, where Thomas worked at the Spencer Pack until his retirement in 1977. Chris worked for Pioneer Hy-Line Hatchery for 18 years working with eggs and baby chicks.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer and taught the Jr./Sr. High Sunday school class, helped with Youth Group and Girls Guild, and in later years taught the Berean Sunday school class and served as deaconess. For the last five years she has corrected correspondence Bible courses for Crossroads Prison Ministry giving encouragement to many in prison. The final day of her life on earth was spent correcting a lesson for one of her prison students.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom in 1985; brother, Robert Marsh; and son-in-law, David Harmon.

Chris is survived by three daughters: Nancy Welle and husband, Jim of West Okoboji, Donna Jean of Blaine, Minn., and Mary Alice Harmon of Queens Village, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
