Funeral services for Mrs. Phyllis Jensen, 89, of Spencer, will be held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Spencer. Rev. Bart DeBoer wiill officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

The graveside service will take place at 9:30 a.m., today, prior to the funeral.

Phyllis passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at home.

Phyllis LaVonne Jensen, the daughter of Elmer Allen and Cora Myrtle (Faulkner) Kabrick, was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Spencer. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School on May 28, 1936.

Phyllis married Carl Jensen on May 10, 1941, in Ponca, NE. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where she was a bookkeeper for H&N, Farmer's Coop and later the Northwest Iowa Shopper. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. She also enjoyed bowling and mountain hiking and had climbed one of the highest mountains in Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jerry Markley; and two brothers: Clarence and Howard Kabrick.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Carl (Ed) of Spencer; three daughters: Gayen Borgen and her husband, Don of Hackensack, Minn., Cheryl Green of Beaverton, Ore., and Jan Lenhert of Escondido, Calif.; one son, Dr. Perry Jensen and his wife, Lisa of Temecula, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
