Funeral services for Alice Birchard, 64, of Spencer, will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Tom Dettmer will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service.

Alice passed away Monday, Jan. 28, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer.

Alice Birchard, the daughter of Benton and Alice (Backstrom) Birchard, was born April 22, 1943, in Gillett Grove. Her childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove, where she received her education, graduating from Gillett Grove High School.

Following high school, she attended beauty school in Des Moines,. Following her graduation, she worked as a beautician for John Blair for several years, until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Marlene Anderson, Wanda Mills, Betty Plautz and Loraine Birchard in infancy; and three brothers: Elmer and Harold and Cecil Birchard.

Alice is survived by two brothers: Earl Birchard and his wife, Wanda of Spencer, Roger Birchard and his wife, Karen of Paullina; and two sisters: Blanche Foxhoven of Estherville, and Shirley Stone and her husband, Robert of Houston, Texas.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
