Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Mills, 80, of Spencer, were held Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Warner Chapel of Spencer. Rev. Tom Dettmer officiated the service.

Interment took place at Logan Township Cemetery in Gillett Grove.

Wanda passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.

Wanda passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Longhouse Residence of Spencer.

Wanda Bell (Birchard) Mills, the daughter of Ben and Alice Baxter Birchard, was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Gillett Grove. Her childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove, where she received her early education.

Wanda married Donald Laverne Mills on April 21, 1945, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer where she stayed at home and raised her family. She was a member of the Eagle's Club and the Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on March 27, 1989; one daughter, Linda Berry; three brothers; and two sisters.

Wanda is survived by five sons: Don Mills Jr. and his wife, Barb of Okoboji, Ron Mills of Spencer, Tom Mills and his wife, Joan of Spencer, Richard Mills and his wife, Wanda of Spencer, and Larry Mills of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two brothers: Earl Birchard and his wife, Wanda of Spencer, and Roger Birchard and his wife, Karen of Paullina; and three sisters: Blanche Foxhoven of Estherville, Shirley Stone and her husband, Bob of Texas, and Alice Birchard of Spencer.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
