Funeral services for Dorothy Strautz, 86, of Spencer, will be held today, Friday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. The Rev. Chuck Kellogg will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Dorothy passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Spencer Hospital. Memorials may be sent to the Spencer School Foundation.

Dorothy Leone Strautz, the daughter of Roy and Irma Mary (Robertson) Baustian, was born July 21, 1921, in Rock Rapids. Her childhood years were spent in Onawa, where she attended Onawa Public School, graduating from Onawa High School in 1939. Following high school, she attended the Iowa Success Business College in Ottumwa.

Dorothy married Paul Strautz on March 3, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Seattle, Wash., Sioux City, Storm Lake, Moville, Des Moines, Nevada, Ankeny, and Spencer. She did secretarial work in the Onawa Public School and for the Superintendent for Monona County Schools. Dorothy was a teacher associate for Spencer Public Schools until her retirement in June of 1986. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Paul of Spencer; two sons: David Strautz and his wife, Kathy of St. Charles, Mo., and Steven Strautz and his wife, Susan of Marshall, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
