Funeral services for Doris Mae Hetland, 79, of Brookings S.D, will take place at 10:30 a.m., today, Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at First Lutheran Church of Brookings.

Visitation will take place prior to the services at the church.

Interment will take place at Badger City Cemetery of Badger, S.D.

Doris passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer.

Doris Mae Hetland was born on Oct. 11, 1928, in Arlington, S.D., the daughter of Albert and Anna (Christensen) Christensen. She received her education in Arlington and was a graduate of the Arlington High School in 1946.

Doris was united in marriage to Jack E. Hetland on Dec. 21, 1947, in Badger. After their marriage she was employed at The Arlington Sun until 1955. Doris was then employed at SDSU for 27 years as an administrative secretary until her retirement in 1986.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings and participated in her church women's circle and various church and community activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Helen Anderson.

Doris is survived by two daughters: Gayle Stenstrom and husband, Ronald of Tucson, Ariz., and Pam Magnuson and husband, Richard of Spencer; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
