Funeral services for Irene Woolston, 81, of Sutherland, will take place at 10:30 a.m., today, Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Warner Funeral Home of Everly. Rev. Michael Hyde will officiate the services.

Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery of Peterson.

Irene passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Prairie View Nursing Home of Sanborn.

Irene Etheridge Woolston, the daughter of Paul and Eunice (Williams) Weeks was born Nov. 8, 1926, in the Newland Township in Elizabeth City, N.C. Her childhood years were spent in Elizabeth City where she attended and graduated from Newland High School.

On June 3, 1974, Irene was united in marriage to Ronald Woolston in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Irene was a member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, of Elizabeth City. Ronald and Irene traveled extensively in many places and countries including a special trip to the "Holy Land".

She was preceded in death by brothers: Herbert, Jobe, Paul Jr., Charlie, and William Roy; and sisters: Louise Burnham and Eunice Banks.

Irene is survived by her husband, Ronald Woolston, of Sutherland; two sons: Charles (Nicky) Craddock and his wife, Naima of Elizabeth City, and George Brethowr and his wife, Annette of Dallas, Texas; stepson, David Woolston and his wife, Kris of Sutherland; step-daughter, Stephanie Mortimore and her husband, Les of Estherville; three grandsons; a granddaughter; two step-granddaughters; sisters: Dora Craddock of Virginia Beach, Va., Ida Kitchen of Yale, Va., and Johnnie Stallings and her husband, Richard of Elizabeth City; mother-in-law, Florence Woolston of Sutherland; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Woolston.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
