Carol Lake, 86, of Spencer, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at First Christian Church in Spencer. Rev. Dan Mayes will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service, with lunch and a time of fellowship immediately following the service.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., with burial at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Casket bearers will include Scott Hagerdon, Stacy Kissam, Michael Hagerdon, Chad Lake, Brent Jones, Greg Jones, Marcia Ramstack, Amber Townsend and Hilary Lake.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

Carol Kae Lake, the daughter of Leslie and Sadie (Waters) Jones, was born April 22, 1921, in Everly. Her childhood years were spent in the Spencer area, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1939.

Carol married Gerald Lake on April 2, 1941, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to live in the Spencer area, where she worked as a homemaker and raised their family. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and was the church's longest living member. Carol was a past 4-H leader and was involved with the Spencer Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; one son: Richard Lake; a sister: Cleone Fischer; one brother-in-law: Ralph Fischer; and a sister-in-law: Katherine Jones.

Carol Lake is survived by two daughters: Linda Hagerdon of Denver, Colo., Patty and her husband, Clinton Jones, of Spencer; one son: Steven Lake and his wife, Jane, of Spencer; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother: M. Dale Jones of Spencer; other relatives and many friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
