Mrs. Verna Mae Roth, 72, of Milford, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milford. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Milford.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1935, in Roselle, to Henry and Rose (Hockstatter) Meisheid. Verna was united in marriage to Francis Roth on May 23, 1955, in Dedham, Iowa. Francis passed away on Nov. 25, 1993.
Verna worked for Jurgens Produce in Carroll, Swift and Company in Spencer, and for Swanson's and Hy-Vee for 31 years, before retiring in 1992. After retiring, she worked at the Lakeside Lab and the hot lunch program at the Okoboji Schools. Verna moved from Wahpeton, to Milford, in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; three sisters, Virgine, Linda and Maxine; and two brothers: Norman and Ervin.
Verna is survived by her three daughters: Betty Roth of Omaha, Neb., Brenda Johnson and her husband, Darwin of Spencer, and Pam Sathren, and her husband, Mike, of Glenwood; five grandchildren; two sisters: Phyllis Friedman and Lois Loneman; a brother, Tom Meisheid; and two great-grandchildren.
