Matthew P. Seivert, 81, passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Nov. 29, 2007, at the age of 81.
No service of interment information was provided.
Matthew P. Seivert, the son of Mahias and Sophia (Kuta) Seivert, was born on April 26, 1926, at Ashton. Matt lived his youth and attended school in Ashton. While still living in Ashton, he worked for farmers in the area, and for a short time worked at Armors Egg Plant in Sheldon were he met his future wife, Gertrude.
On Feb. 1, 1952, Matt was united in marriage to Gertrude DeKruif and they were blessed with four children: Sharyn, Robert, Dennis, and Loretta.
They made their home in Sanborn, where Matt went to work at AMPI in December of 1956. In 1988, he retired and was recognized with a plaque for 32 years of service to AMPI and a pin for 29 years of accident-free driving.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sanborn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gert; two brothers: Martin (in infancy) and Gerald; and one sister Marie.
Matt is survived by his children: Sharyn Sheriff and her husband, Ron of Everly, Bob Seivert and his wife, Nella of Harlan, Dennis Seivert and his wife, Barb of Renner, S.D., and Loretta Laubach and her husband, Harlan of Sanborn; seven grandchildren; one brother, Doug Seivert of Sheldon; and one sister, Angie Kruger of Round Lake, Minn.
