Funeral services for Helen Elaine Rohwer, 83, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Tuesday, Dec . 4, 2007. Rev. Jud Stover will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Waterman Cemetery of Sutherland.

On Nov. 29, 2007, Helen passed away at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland at the age of 83.

Helen Elaine Rohwer, the daughter of Leo and Lena (Westphal) Struve, was born December 13, 1923, on a farm near Paullina.

Her childhood years were spent in Sutherland where she attended and graduated from Sutherland High School. Following graduation, Helen went to cosmetology school for one year in Sioux City. Helen worked at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, for many years. She also worked at Millie's Nursing Home in Sutherland.

In May of 1942, Helen was united in marriage to Sonny Rausch. In 1945, Sonny died from injuries sustained in Czechoslovakia during WW II. Helen was married to Loyd Rohwer in September 1946, in Sutherland.

Helen was a member of the Auxiliary and the Library Board in Sutherland.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sonny Rausch; second husband, Loyd Rohwer; one brother, Irvin Struve; and her parents.

Helen is survived by her children: David and wife, Vickie of Calumet, Donna Vicki Fuller, Ray Fuller of Jefferson City, Mo., Dennis Rohwer and wife, Gwen of Mankato, Minn., Deb Rohwer Anderson and husband, Denny of Linn Grove, Doug Rohwer and wife, Margaret of Marcus, Todd Rohwer of Spencer, Sue Ann DeSpain and husband, Scott of Vandenberg AFB in California; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Bernadine Johannsen of Sutherland, and Phyllis Anderson and husband, Duane of Peterson.
