Funeral services for Harvey F. Evans, 87, of Ruthven, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at United Methodist Church of Ruthven. Rev. Jim Gochenouer will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery of Ruthven.

Harvey passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Harvey Frank Evans, son of Frank and Clara (Sternke) Evans, was born May 15, 1920, in Lake Park, Minn. He attended country school in the Lake Park area.

On April 6, 1943, Harvey was united in marriage to Lois Simington in Hawley, Minn. To this union four children were born.

Harvey farmed in Minnesota before moving to Ruthven where he hauled milk for the Ruthven Creamery. He was later employed by the Ruthven Co-op Oil Company where he drove the tank wagon. Harvey and Lois also operated the Laundromat in Ruthven and Harvey served as the Water Superintendent for the City of Ruthven for several years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven and was active on the Ruthven Fire Department for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Evans; a daughter-in-law, Sue Evans; and a sister, Leora.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Lois of Ruthven; his children: Jerry Evans of Sioux Falls, S.D., Judy Rausch and her husband, Bob of Spencer, and Dr. Harvey Evans, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Humboldt; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Evans of Washington; and a sister, Velva Poach of California.

Arrangements are being handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
