Funeral services for Augusta Leitch, 98, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Milford. Msgr. Kenneth Seifried will officiate the service.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery of Milford.

Augusta passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2007.

Augusta was born on Nov. 5, 1909, in Parker, S.D., the daughter of August and Augusta (Wieners) Vicarius. The family moved to a farm east of Milford when Augusta was four years old. She was raised and educated in Milford, graduating from Milford High School. Upon completing a summer teacher education course, Augusta became a country schoolteacher for five years.

On June 6, 1933, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Leitch at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Together, the couple farmed and raised a family of three children, Marilyn, Duane and Linda.

Augusta was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Lady of Lake Circle.

After they retired from farming in the mid 1970's, the couple moved into town. Augusta moved to Milford Nursing Center in August, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and husband, Wilbur.

Augusta is survived by her children: Marilyn Beck and husband, Walt of Spencer, Duane Leitch and wife, Harriet of Des Moines, and Linda Muller and husband, Steve of Stoughton, Wis.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
