Services for Glenn E. Griswold Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Glenn was born on March 9, 1925 in Webb to Maude and Ralph E. Griswold. He graduated from Garfield-Webb High School in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on July 19, 1943, under the Aviation Cadet program at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He received his basic training at Miami Beach, Fla. and as part of his cadet training attended Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y. He completed Aviation Cadet Preflight School for pilots at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Ala., and primary flight training at Americus and Albany, Ga. He continued basic pilot training at Gunter AFB, Montgomery, and received his wings upon graduation at Twin Engine advance pilot training, Columbus AFB, Miss. Following graduation from Twin Engine he served as flight officer at Truex Field in Madison, Wis., flying T-6 aircraft until his discharge in November 1945. After three months of civilian life Glenn reenlisted as a Master Sergeant and served his country until December 1973 retiring in Wichita Falls at the rank of E-9; Chief Master Sergeant. He served predominatlly in the Air Training Command in aircraft maintenance on the following aircraft; B-17, B25, T-33, T-6, AF-10, B-45 and C-47. He also completed school for the following aircraft: P-80, B-47, F-86G, RF-101, T-38 and F-4. He served at Taegu, Korea in 1953-54, Laon AB, France from 1961 to 1963 and Korat, Thailand, during the Vietnam War, from July 1967 to July 1968.

Glenn married Nadine Keeton of Dennison, Texas on April 1, 1950. Glenn was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Maskat Shrine Temple.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters: June Reilly and husband, Bill, and Ruth Rowe; one brother Warren Griswold; a brother-in-law, Chuck Hansen.

Glenn is survived by one brother, Dale and wife Dorothy of Streeter, Ill.; one sister JoAnn Hansen of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Brenda Jones and husband Mike of Katy, Texas; two sons: Glenn Griswold, Jr. of Rowlett, Texas and Ralph Griswold and wife, Janice of College Station, Texas; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
