Funeral services for Mrs. Arlene Tielbur, 80, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Spencer, will take place at 1 p.m., today Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Warner Chapel of Spencer. Rev. Kay Hooper will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Arlene passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Lakes Regional Health Center of Spirit Lake.

Arlene Tielbur, the daughter of Jack and Edyth (Jones) Thompson, was born March 3, 1927 in Spencer. After graduating from Spencer High School, Arlene worked in the office of Scott's Store in Spencer.

On Dec. 17, 1949, Arlene joined with Alfred John Tielbur in holy matrimony and in 1974, on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, renewed their vows. Shortly after their marriage, Al and Arlene began working side by side in the trucking industry; Arlene behind the desk and Al behind the wheel. They continued to work together until their retirement.

Al and Arlene made their home in Spencer, until they relocated to Spirit Lake shortly after Al's retirement in 1998. For the past year Arlene has been receiving care at the Hilltop Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her six siblings: Wayne Thompson, Vivian Olson, Lee Thompson, Cecil Thompson, Carroll Thompson and Jimmy Thompson.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Al of Spirit Lake; her daughter, Vicki Axtell of Spirit Lake; two granddaughters; and a grandson.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
