Funeral services for Kathleen L. Thompson, 70, of Cylinder, were held Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at First United Methodist Church of Emmetsburg. Rev. David A. Morris officiated the service.

Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery of Emmetsburg.

Kathleen passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Kathleen Lucille Thompson, daughter of Albert D. and Marie F. (Brewer) Myers, was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Emmetsburg. She attended school in Emmetsburg graduating in 1956. During high school Kathleen worked at Cook's Drug Store.

On June 25, 1956, Kathleen was united in marriage to Justin Thompson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Kathleen went to work at the Palo Alto County Treasurer's office in March 1957, where she was employed for fifteen years before being elected Palo Alto County Treasurer. She served in this capacity for 35 years before her retirement in 2006. She was presented with a certificate of recognition for her service to the county, by the President of the Iowa State Association of County Treasurers, during her retirement party.

Kathy was a former member of the Congregational Church in Emmetsburg. She was also a member of I.S.A.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois Creveling; and a brother, Charles Myers.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Justin of Cylinder; two brothers: Gordon Myers of Hastings, Neb., and John Myers of Emmetsburg; and three sisters: Audrey Edwards of Spencer, June Meusburger of Elgin, S.C., and Mary Ewoldt of Spencer.

Arrangements were handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
