Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Pingel, 84 of Sutherland will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at Bethel Lutheran Church of Sutherland. Rev. LeRoy Riemer will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., today with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland.

Interment will take place at Waterman Cemetery of Sutherland.

Dorothy passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at Sutherland Care Center.

Dorothy Mae Pingel, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie Joines Phillips, was born Oct. 26, 1923 in rural Larrabee. Her childhood years were spent in the rural Larrabee/Calumet area, where she received her education, graduating from Calumet High School. She was also an active in Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on July 30, 1943 and confirmed on Aug. 1, 1943 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.

Dorothy married LeRoy Pingel on June 6, 1943 in Sutherland. Following their marriage, they farmed near Sutherland for many years. She also remained active at Bethel Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, bible school and was a member of the Ladies Aid.  Dorothy moved to the town of Sutherland five years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert in 1990; her husband, LeRoy in 1998; and one sister, Opal Harris.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters: Nancy Jungjohan and her husband, Gary of Sutherland, and Cheryl Fogelman and her husband, Frank of Sutherland; a daughter-in-law, Jean Pingel of Sutherland; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Lanham and her husband, Charles Rapid City, S.D.

Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland is in charge of arrangements.
