Funeral services for Maxine Quee, 86, of Spencer, will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Scott Meier will officiate the 2 p.m. service. Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer. Maxine Quee passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Spencer Hospital.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
Maxine Rose Quee, the daughter of William and Gerde O. "Gertrude" (Grans) Tolley, was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Peterson. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School.
Maxine married Carlton Oliver Quee on May 18, 1949, in Ft. Eustis, Va. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where she worked for the telephone office for four to five years and worked as a receptionist for the eye doctor for several years, until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Maxine was also active in the Combined Guild and the Hospital Auxiliary. She had recently received her 2,000-hour volunteer service pin for her time at Spencer Hospital. Maxine had lived in her present home for all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Thelma Lachner.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Carlton of Spencer; and a daughter, Connie Kay Quee and her husband, Thomas Johnson of Cedar Rapids.
A memorial fund has been established for the Hospice of Northwest Iowa and the Abben Cancer Center in care of the Spencer Hospital and Bethany Lutheran Church of Spencer.
