Phyllis Jean Soppeland nee Duff, 84, of Cuba, Mo., formerly of Spencer, passed away at Cuba Manor on Friday, Oct. 26.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba. Rev. Jeff Schanbacher will officiate the service.
Memorials may be given to the University of Iowa Anatomy Research and Development Fund, Iowa City, IA.
Phyllis was born on Monday, May 21, 1923, in Winterset, to Thornton Duff and Iva (Hamilton) Duff.
Phyllis married William E. Soppeland on March 15, 1953, in Elsworth, and to this union, three children were born. She was a wife and homemaker.
She was active in the PTA Pythian Sisters and Church Council.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and son, Gene D. Soppeland.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Myron "Myke" Soppeland and wife, Sandy of St. Louis, Mo., and Beth Peter and husband, Barry of Peabody, Kansas sister-in-law, Margaret Ingle and husband, Les of Iowa Falls; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Hutson Funeral Home of Cuba is in charge of arrangements.
