Herbert James “Jim” Wilson, 77, of Wahpeton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at Turner Funeral Home. Monsignor Kenneth Seifried will officiate.

Interment will be at Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007.

Jim Wilson was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Harry L. and Gladys (Bell) Wilson. Jim was raised and educated in Sioux City , graduating from Central High School in 1948.

Jim enlisted in the US Air Force on April 1, 1951, serving as an Airman 2nd Class in the 10th Air Force, 132nd Motor Vehicle Squadron, until receiving an Honorable Discharge on Sept. 22, 1952. Jim attended the University of Iowa for two years before receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree at Morningside College in Sioux City in 1954.

Jim was a member of the Sioux City Scottish Rite Bodies (Freemasons). He owned and operated Wilson’s Lakevue Resort on West Lake Okoboji for several years. Jim was the Nutrition Director at Northwest Aging Association in Spencer from 1979 until retirement.

Jim is survived by his wife, Betty, and her son: Jaime; daughter, Stacey of Brownfield, Maine ; son, Jon of Tampa, Fla.; three grandsons; and a granddaughter, Grace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association
