Funeral services for Nadine Burgeson, 81, of Spencer, will be held today, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at United Methodist Church in Peterson. Rev. Roger Maize will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

Mrs. Burgeson passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Nadine Mae Burgeson, the daughter of Arthur and Ida Conley Myrick, was born on the family farm near Pleasant Lake, Spirit Lake, the youngest of eight children. She received her early education in Terril and in 1938 her family moved to a farm by Superior and she then graduated from the Superior High School in 1944. She attended Iowa Teachers School in Cedar Falls. Later, Nadine attended Buena Vista College where she earned her degree.

Nadine taught school in Peterson, Arnolds Park and Terril before she married LeRoy Glade on June 11, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. LeRoy died suddenly on September 17, 1951, Nadine then taught school in Estherville and then Storm Lake. On June 29, 1966, Nadine married Glen Burgeson, following their marriage, she taught school in Sutherland. Nadine was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson where she played in the Bell Choir. The past five winters, Nadine enjoyed her home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; five sisters: Irene Tritle, Helen Myrick, Neva Wilson, Bernice Lloyd and Nelda Hassman; two brothers: Ralph and Darwin Myrick; one great granddaughter: Katherine Mae Mills.

Nadine is survived by her three step-sons: Rodney Burgeson and wife, Lorna of Spirit Lake, Norman Burgeson and wife, Carol of Centerville, Ohio, and Jeffrey Burgeson and wife, Rolle Burgeson of Downers Grove, Ill; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
