Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Marie Hale, 77, of Spencer, took place Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer. Rev. Chuck Kellogg officiated the service.

Interment took place at the Riverside Cemetery of Spencer.

Marjorie passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Longhouse Residence of Spencer.

Marjorie, was born the daughter of Marvin and Lillie (Christensen) Nelsen on Nov. 6, 1929, in Cass County, near Anita. She spent her early grades in a rural school in the Anita area and moved with her family to a farm north of Ruthven at the age of eight. There she finished her grade school and attended Lake Center High School.

On Sept. 4, 1946, she married Wayne Rouse of Ruthven and to this union was born three children: Harlan, Connie, and Kathy.

Marjorie worked at the Power Café in Ruthven for several years where she made many friends. Later worked for National in Spencer and J.C. Penney.

In 1971, she married Clyde Hale and they made their home in Spencer where she continued to work for JC Penney until she retired in 1991.

Marjorie was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde in 2006; her brothers: Ronald and Leland Nelsen; one grandson, Kevin Locker; and one step-granddaughter, Stacy Goth.

Marjorie is surived by Harlan Rouse and wife Katie, Connie Locker and husband, Ed, and Kathy Olberding and husband, Bernard; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children: Shannon Goth, Danny Hale, Shawn Hale, and Ryan Hale, and their families; six step grandchildren; brothers: Harold Nelsen and Danny Nelsen; and sisters, Norma Dotson and Stella Stahly.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
